Greetings all!
I missed seeing everyone last Friday but I truly enjoyed a little get-a-way to see and celebrate with some family. Much needed and much appreciated.
Thanks to Jamie for leading club and to all involved in trying out our hybrid (live and Zoom) meeting efforts. We'd appreciate your feedback on that. Let me know how it worked for you, whether live or over Zoom. We're always looking for ways to make a better experience for you.
Given the projected morning temps for this Friday morning, I feel it's best for us to meet over Zoom, hopefully for the last time. Hang in there with us! See Zoom link below.
Congratulations to Luanne Bibbee, our most recent Golden Roty recipient. Luanne was nominated by Mark Robinson. Much deserved Luanne!

This Friday's program, we will welcome member Bobbie Terry as she presents Josh Parish. Josh Parish is the founder of Vetlife. Vetlifeis a nonprofit that was created to help military veterans learn about and use VA benefits earned by them for their military service.
Reminder: President’s Night plans are underway. Mark your calendars for July 1st! Thanks to all of you for helping make up some of the lost funds for this through your happy dollars and fines last week! We still have a ways to go. [So mail in a check made out to the LSRC Foundation, PO BOX 1916, Brighton MI 48116. Let's see, 60 weeks of no in-person meetings... that's about $60 in Happy Dollars, right?]
To provide veterans with sustainable solutions while promoting a safer, healthier, and prosperous civilian lifestyle.
VETLIFE offers a variety of resources, programs, and events to veterans and their families all at no cost.
VETLIFE is a nonprofit organization formed in 2018 by veteran families for veteran families. The organization was born out of our own struggles after leaving the military. We became painfully aware of so many other veterans who were facing the same struggles. The large number of veterans unaware of benefits and the rising number of veteran suicides really bothered us, so we formed a nonprofit organization with the purpose of promoting a safer, healthier, and prosperous civilian lifestyle. This is how the name "VETLIFE" came to fruition. VETLIFE is about living your best life after the military. We provide veterans with a network of sustainable solutions and resources to improve the quality of civilian life. Our events are completely free to veteran families and promote a sense of camaraderie among other veterans while also providing valuable veteran specific resources. We pride ourselves on being attentive to any and all veteran needs.
Joshua Parish is an Iraq War Veteran who’s greatest passion is helping veterans when they transition into civilian life and giving them the best opportunity to be successful. Parish has over 15 years of experience working with local, state, and federal government agencies creating programs that have developed sustainable solutions including: Veterans Treatment Court, Transitional Housing for Homeless Veterans, Veterans Transportation Initiative, among others. Parish has been awarded the Community Leader Best of Michigan Award and the 2019 Veteran Hero Award. He holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Western Michigan Thomas Cooley School of Law. Parish is an avid golfer and enjoys spending time with his wife and children.

I don't know about you, but I kinda liked the whole multi-media ZOOM and in-person meeting at last week's Jailhouse Garage. Who brought the food? So thoughtful. I should have brought a blanket... and hot coffee.

HONOR MURPH, SUPPORT SCOUTING
Hey everybody,
I received the attached information concerning a special event being held by the Boy Scouts. They will be honoring our own Sheriff Michael Murphy as "Distinguished Citizen" at a breakfast on May 20th 7 a.m. They have extended an invitation to our membership.
I am planning to attend and would love to have a nice representation from our club there. I hope you'll seriously consider this chance to help honor our great Sheriff and member.
If you're so inclined there are opportunities to be a sponsor for the event as well. Registration is $50 pp and can be done via mail/check or online.

FORE! FOUR-some? Golf Outing Galore!
From Jim Gilmore, past Michigan governor and all things sports:
It's time for the 18th annual Fowlerville Rotary Golf Outing. It will be held at Oak Lane Golf Course in Webberville, June 11, 2021.
We have at least seven signed up and need to round out our two foursomes. I'll get us registered and all you need do is show up with clubs, balls, and a check for $75 made out to the Fowlerville Rotary Club.
We've added Rob Johnson, Harvey, Ramesh and Jim W to Sara and Dianne Romsek.

We usually support them with a foursome or two. [So far we have about six signed up.] It is one of the more reasonably priced (at $75 per golfer) and one of the most enjoyable outings as we support our fellow Rotarians to the west.
It is a 4 person scramble format with prizes to the top Men's, Women's and Mixed Teams.
Since we are fellow Rotarians, we can pay at the door with cash or check. To register, just send me your name and email and I'll complete the forms for our team(s).
Time to get the clubs dusted off...

Tuesday - Lunch - Brightonat the Brighton Community Building (aka the Boy Scout Building)
Tuesday - Lunch - Lyon Area at Abbey Park at Mill River...off Milford Road, south of I-96, across from Coyote Golf Club
Wednesday - Lunch - Fowlerville at First United Methodist Church on 2nd Street
Thursday - Breakfast - Hartland Rotary Club, at the Hartland Insurance Agency (Old US 23, just north of M 59).
Thursday - Lunch - Novi at Suburban Collection Showcase
- NOON - Milford Rotary Club, Bakers at Milford, 2925 S. Milford Road
Take the opportunity to see other clubs, meet other Rotarians and see how they do things. These count as "Make Up" meetings if you can't attend your regular weekly club meeting.
