Because of the contribution of the great members of Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club, we have accomplished 13 of the goals set for the 2021/2022 Rotary year. This means that our club has met the requirements for earning the coveted PRESIDENTIAL CITATION from Rotary International. Governor Brenda Tipton hopes to have ALL clubs in District 6380 win this award with her encouragement and the support of district leaders. CONGRATULATIONS!!
IS IT THE TRUTH?
As members of LSRC we participate in a weekly pledge, asking ourselves, "Of the things we think, do or say: first, is it the truth?" among other valuable questions. During a recent community fundraiser, four members of LSRC participated in a SOFTBALL GAME. Let's just say that ONE member (who shall remain anonymous) made a BAD CALL and was CONFRONTED by the club President WITH that FIRST QUESTION of the Four Way Test..
Is the offending member a judge in real life? Maybe. Were we LAUGHING at the blatant error meant to supply entertainment for all? Indeed. ... all for a good cause ...
We work together. We change lives. We daily put on service above self

Connie Conklin has graciously accepted the position of Speaker Scheduler for our weekly club meetings. Congrats on relinquishing your role for the last two or three years, Mark Robinson. You did a masterful job and handled situations diplomatically.
So who do we want as speakers?
Well, someone who can keep up educated, informed and attentive for 20 minutes or so between 8 am and 8:25 pm. A dynamic speaker. With slides and handouts! Free samples or visual aids. Almost anyone who wants to bring their world into the focus of Rotary whose members pledge to put service above selfishness.
Connie has an opening July 29th, so speak with her if you have a speaker! (See how that works). Most of August and September are open as well.
If you nominate someone, you are their host and "presented by" person. Get a brief bio, a few words on the topic of their speech and a photo for the newsletter. Also, be prepared with an opening prayer/grace and a closing thought known as "One More Moment" --; an inspirational message from an inspirational historical figure. Even if they are Anon E. Moose.

WHO IS BALA MURTHY?
A Rotary Ambassadorial scholar, Bala has been committed to Rotary for over 30 years. Following his business contracts to DC, Bala was has been on the Board of Directors, International Services, Rotary Foundation and Embassy Relations & Sister-Cities Committee for the Washington DC Rotary (D7620). He has been the past TRF Chairman and member on the Accounting Service Reengineering Team for the DC Rotary. He has recently established the Rotary Yoga and Meditation Fellowship and its Secretary. He is the Membership Director and N. Central USA Vice-President of the Rotary International Travel & Hosting Fellowship. Bala is a member of the RI Alumni Relation Committee Prior to Washington DC Rotary,
Bala was a member of the Detroit Rotary (#16, D6400) where he held various club positions. Before Detroit Rotary, Bala served as President of Grand Blanc, MI Rotary (D6330). He has served on various District Committees in both D6330 and D6400, including being the keynote speaker at the D6330 District Conference in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. After the devastating earthquake in Gujrat, India 1993, Bala led and coordinated Rotary International global matching grant to rebuild fallen Gujrat communities, now named after Rotary (Rotary Nagar). During 2001, Bala led a 3-H Grant Initiative and approval to provide low-cost housing shelters in Western India. He has led several Rotary matching grants for supporting schools throughout the world including desks, chairs and blackboards for schools in India and education for school children in Cancun, Mexico.
Awards: Bala has received numerous awards including 1993-94 “The Rotary Foundation District Service Award” in D6330 for his leadership in implementing “Low Cost Housing Shelters” for the survivors of one of the worst earthquakes in W. India. Bala and his wife, Roma are Major Donors Level 3 and plan to become Arch Clump Society Members in 5 years. They are also Level 5 TRF Bequest Society Members.

Invite your extended Rotary Family [aka spouses], friends or co-workers. Or a member you haven't seen lately! This is one of the things that makes LSRC so special! SO, EACH ONE BRING ONE. Tom, you buyin'?
Greeters should arrive BY 7:15 AM and assist members to set up, hand out name badges, welcome guests and identify visiting Rotarians. Smile! Make EVERYONE feel welcome. Introduce them to other members.
